The perfect Thanksgiving co*cktail. This fall spiced whiskey sour features apple cider and whiskey and tastes like autumn in a glass!
Thanksgiving co*cktail
The other night we went out to dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, True Food Kitchen. I love their menu and philosophy towards eating and food. And I always enjoy ordering one of their delicious co*cktails.
One of my favorite things about their menu is they use seasonal ingredients and change it according to the seasons. So, for fall they had this fall spiced whiskey co*cktail on the menu. It tasted so good! In fact, I decided then and there to recreate it!
Fall Spiced Whiskey Sour
It took a lot of *ahem* taste testing and tweaking, but I have finally perfected it. This is my version of the perfect Thanksgiving co*cktail recipe. A fall spiced whiskey sour that is made of just 3 main ingredients and has no sugar added.
Because this tastes like fall in a glass, I knew it would make the best Thanksgiving co*cktail to serve to guests. And it pairs perfectly with my Spicy Pear Punch for a non-alcoholic beverage option.

What’s A Good Thanksgiving co*cktail
Ok, so now back to this yummy Thanksgiving co*cktail. What I love most about this fall spiced whiskey sour is that it has all the flavors of fall infused into it without being too sweet or overpowering.
The apple cider adds enough sweetness that you don’t need any simple syrup or other added sugar.
And the lemon juice cuts that sweetness and enhances the flavor of the whiskey.
How To Make A Whiskey Sour
The key to making a good whiskey sour is to use a high quality bourbon whiskey. I used Basil Hayden but other good labels include Glenlivet, Johnnie Walker Black Label, Crown Royal, Maker’s Mark and Jameson.
And makes this thanksgiving co*cktail extra festive is the pinch of pumpkin pie spice. It goes so well with the whiskey and truly makes this taste like autumn in a glass!
Now, if you want to make good impression, you may want to use a giant ice cube mold. This is what I always use for specialty co*cktails like this one.
To make this fall spiced Thanksgiving co*cktail, first fill the co*cktail shaker 3/4 full of ice. Add the whiskey, apple cider, lemon juice and pinch of pumpkin pie spice (totally optional) and shake well until it is icy cold and well combined.
Strain and pour into a co*cktail glass filled with fresh ice (either one large cube as I did here or a handful of regular ice) and serve. Garnish with a fresh apple slice, sprig of rosemary, fresh cranberries or anything fallish!
Cheers!
