What tools are not allowed in LKQ? ›

Most junkyards require you to wear close toed shoes when you pick your own auto parts. Ideally, you should also wear a long sleeve shirt, long pants, gloves, and eye protectors.

Do LKQ engines come with accessories? ›

Your LKQ engine may have the optional accessories attached for convenience, but are not covered under the warranty. Thank you for your purchase of a recycled engine from LKQ. Although we are offering a “Long Block”, (engine block and cylinder head) certain accessories may be included with your engine.

It could range from a total of $3,000 to $8,000 or even more when you have a mechanic do the work, and even changing the engine on your own will likely cost $2,000 or more using the most frugal options.

Local Scrapyards. Don't skip local junk car buyers when hunting for the best price for your junk or salvage vehicle. Depending on the current price of scrap metal, some local scrapyards may offer you more than an online car buying service for your car.

For traditional DIY used auto parts customers: Regarding the assistance we do provide - all vehicles on display are elevated for you. We supply an A-Frame and Hoist to assist you in the removal of an engine or a transmission. We also will provide a lift to help you move the engine or transmission to the exit.

Power tools and all other tools greater than 7 inches must be packed in your checked baggage.

Aftermarket parts are manufactured by a different company other than the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of your vehicle. These parts are made to “resemble OEM standards” and are often less expensive than OEM parts. LKQ stands for “Like Kind in Quality”.

LKQ is the largest auto recycler in the country. Last year we recyled over 800,000 vehicles. We resell all the salavagable parts and the remaining material is sold to scrap metal processors. The catalytic converters we remove are sold seperately to smelter processors so that they can be properly recycled.
