What are the benefits of teeth whitening?
There are two types of teeth whitening: the in-office/laser teeth whitening and the home teeth whitening kits. Both procedures use a peroxide based bleaching gel in varied concentrations. The higher concentration value means more whitening and therefore a higher chance of side effects such as sensitivity and potential damage to the gum. Dr. Viviane Trinh recommends in-office treatment so your teeth whitening treatment is carried out properly.

How does teeth whitening work?
Before the procedure begins, Dr. Viviane Trinh will explain to you the details and risks involved followed by signing a consent form. Your teeth are then put through a process called a Scale and Polish, which removes all tarter and surface stains. At this point, the color of your teeth is recorded using digital photography or a color shade chart.
The teeth whitening procedure then begins by Dr. Trinh applying protective material to the lips and gums while a cheek retractor is used to keep your mouth away from the bleaching gel. The gel is then applied and a laser is used to activate it. After approximately 15 minutes, the gel is washed off and the procedure is repeated two more times. The results are compared by evaluating the initial teeth color. Most times, the results are incredibly dramatic. Following the procedure, an at home whitening kit is provided.
Can teeth whitening help me?
Please be advised that not everyone is suitable for the teeth whitening procedure. If you have other dental problems or gum diseases, the procedure may not be recommended. Please consult your dentist to make sure you qualify for the procedure.
